Since yesterday, a site that was running just fine within an LAN environment started grinding to halt, but not failing on LAN clients machines on the morning of 13/11/2014

No publishes were made, nothing was changed anywhere. All the machines that are always on, fresh installs, old installs, pro version, just all started doing the exact same thing.

Requests waiting for 30 seconds, and view renders about 20 seconds.

I scoured the net for various things. In IIS

  • Enabled trace faulting thing. Nothign came out of that.
  • Made sure the server wasnt DDoS'ed by a virus or something. 0 requests per minute.
  • CPU is Idle. Nothing else is doing anything. i7 with 16GB RAM, Server 2012 Standard
  • Recylced apppools. Made sure identities were ok. Even temporility switched to admin identity. Didnt works
  • Created a new defautl apppool. Nope.
  • Made sure webconfi debug=false

SQL Database

  • Logged in using SQL Manger with the user account used from the MVC site. Straigh in, queired the tables. instant replies
  • OK, trimmed down the DB, removed the log file. from 2.2GB to 330mb. Great its faster locally but the same on remote.
  • Restarted manually. Detached and dropped all connected, re attached. No change.

In general

  • Even viewer is silent. No errors
  • IIS log files log all file request. No errors
  • Installed Glimpse into app, The glimpse config page loads quickly. but the main site grinds to a halt.
  • The default website loads quick on other machines though.

I did not publish anything. Since the last publish the system was used by several people for a few days with no problems. Then yesterday morning (13/11/2014) I got calls saying the system is slow and unresponsive.

I dont know what else to check. I will try and remotly debug the app tonight. I read that webfroms and webmatrix might cause an issue but I use that evertwhere and it works fine. DB is OK. No security changes were applied.
